Oz calling to the faraway towns,
Now war is declared and battle come down,
Kiwi calling to the world,
Come out of the cupboard, you boys and girls!
The hour-glass is inverted and the world waits for the quadrennial championship to begin again, when 14 nations will fight the good fight on 14 venues across Australia and New Zealand! The past was glorious but the present is grandeur! Where all this fervour began?
From the woods of England to the game known in 53 Commonwealth of Nations, to some it is not just one sport, it is nation’s pride! Our world cup dates back to 1975 and International cricket matches to the year of 1844!
Fast forward to this twitter age(remember flashing of twitter handle of the player when they introduce him on the TV screen while the game is on and there is always a twitter war commentators keep talking about!)
So, the question is how are you going to celebrate this Festival? Let me guess, are you lone-wolf away from home and riding solo then perhaps crashing on beanbag in front of your neo TV with pizza on right and drink on your left or life has been nice enough to keep you around your Cricket-crazy family which buzzes like honey bees on TV-hive?!
No matter where ever you are this game is as much fun on TV as it is in Stadium, on your laptops and smart-phones too! If your idea is to hit the sports bar with your wolf-pack order a pitcher and swing in some live action, sound fun to me aye!
All I am saying is World Cup is a bag of Santa Clause, the gifts you receive will only make you happy! Let’s all partake in this fiesta and stand together in solidarity; because it takes patriotism to root for your country in sporting event!
By the way if you are happen to be in town, take your girl to the game, It’ll be a day to remember. As For me, like I said before,
"I will wait for it like I did last year!"
