The World 'Cup of Tea'

word_cup_of_tea

The obvious never needs evidence. Cut to the chase, in this world of Latte after water, Tea is highly consumed beverage! Wait a minute, what? But everyone loves a cuppa Joe! The obvious here is the striking similarity between cricket and tea, Cricket too is the second most popular sport of the world right after soccer, so much for the super bowl and NBA!

Be it Australia’s Madura or Bell of New zealand, let it be India’s Tetly or Sri Lanka’s Dalmiah. There are some noticeable and apparent health benefits of tea, we could say the same thing about cricket too. Somebody rightly said that Tea was a medicine but grew into a beverage!

Let this sink in, once an afghan cricketer said to Indian media that cricket could bring peace into the region! Google described definition of tradition as the transmission of customs or beliefs from generation to generation. This is agnostic relationship, Tea always has this aroma of wellness about it cricket too carries that aura!

England has a tradition of  “Cricket Tea!” In the middle of a match, everything stops for tea, it's one of the reasons Yorkshire Tea is the Official Brew of England Cricket. If you are reading this than perhaps you and I had the same upbringing, you too sipped tea in the morning and played cricket on Sundays. Like us all 14 nations were brought up and became young this way!

All I am saying is like tea cricket too is always a good idea! Ironically some things have never known boundaries.

“Whatever the situation, whatever the race or creed,

Tea knows no segregation, no class nor pedigree,

It knows no motivations, no sect or organisation,

It knows no one religion,

Nor political belief.” – Have a cup of tea by the Kinks

Cricket you are my favourite cup of tea!
